Capturing the visual appeal of the Vineyard

75th-race-to-the-vineyard-lower-res1One of our many aspirations has been to figure out a way to depict the Vineyard Race properly. Bill Foster, staff commodore at Stamford Yacht Club, recently took a stab at it and the result is shown here. He’s obviously taken a few liberties here since he’s showing Blue Yankee and Cottom Blossom in the same frame. But we think he’s done a fabulous job capturing the history of the race. You’ll also notice the original Vineyard lightship in the background. That was eventually replaced by the tower which has since been replaced by a buoy.

You’ll see a lot more of this image in the coming year and on the grounds of Stamford Yacht Club but we thought we would give you a sneak preview.
