The growth of the Vineyard Race

Several years ago we set out to see how much we could increase participation in the Vineyard Race. We knew we couldn’t, for now, reach the peak numbers from the 1980s. But we thought we could at least get the word out. Thanks, in part, to help from our sponsors, including Thomson Reuters, we’ve reminded people what a great race it is and why everyone should get involved. We still have another week to go before the 77th running of the Vineyard but it seems word is getting out:

2007 — 52 entries

2008 — 56

2009 — 77

2010 — 85

2011* — 92

* 8 days before the start.

So … a very big thank you to everyone who has helped grow the Vineyard Race in the past several years.
