A special new entry

We just got word that the Frers 79 Kialoa V will be joining us Labor Day weekend. Sailed by Mattie Farrar and Andrew McLean of Stamford the yacht, and its predecessors, have a storied history in the world of ocean racing. The boat is one of a series of Kialoas owned and sailed by Jim Kilroy in the 1970s and 1980s.

The third Kialoa held the Sydney Hobart record for 25 years while the newer ones won trophies in the Admiral’s Cup, Onion Patch, Bermuda Race, Transpacific, Sardinia Cup, S.O.R.C. (Southern Ocean Racing Circuit), Kenwood Cup, San Francisco Big Boat Series and the Maxi World Championship.

  1. Wow! I used to race on Recluta, a Frers 49, but Kialoa V is a maxi comparatively. Beautiful boat, sailed by her the other day in STM harbor.
